Vapiano´s Vision

Location

Firstly, I should mention that Vapiano is probably the only food´s chain in Berlin that offer gluten-free Pizza and pasta options. Therefore, Chapeau to them!

I have been to the Vapiano in Zoologhischer Garten, located in one of the oldest and known shopping center of the city: the Europa Center. The dining area is one the first floor and allow its guests to have a glance to the hectic Kufürstendamm.

Vapiano has chosen a minimalist design for their restaurants: A few plants, open kitchens, and on every table you can find basil and rosemary plants, as well as flavoured oil.

If you have never been to a Vapiano, this is how it works: you´ll be given a special card when you enter the restaurant that you will use throughout your time there.

On the card it´s written a well known Italian proverb, which is also what inspired the chain´s name: “Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano, that can be translated in the English “Softly, softly, catchee monkey”.

Once you get your card, you can start looking at what you´d rather eat and drink, and just lining up to get it. If you decide to get gluten-free Pasta or Risotto, you can stand and watch the chef cooking your meal. Whereas, if you choose to eat a gluten-free pizza, you´ll receive a little tool that´s going to inform you whenever your Pizza is ready.

Assortment and Quality

I have always found fascinating to watch chefs doing their tricks and delivering you the final product. Well, as already said, at Vapiano, you can experience the magic firsthand!

It’s fast, it’s efficient, and it’s very tasty!

Let´s face it, in Berlin, one of the hardest things to do, apart of finding a room and a job, is actually being able to find a good Gluten free pizza. The one at Vapiano was actually able to surprise me – it was way better than expected.

As a personal opinion, I would rate this gluten free pizza with a 8 out of 10.

The assortment is very interesting, although you won´t find the same choice of a Neapolitan Pizzeria – I mean, it´s still a German company after all. However, by adding 1,50 EUR, you´ll get the chance to order almost every available option of gluten-free pizza, like for example a Margherita, Salame, Funghi, Crudo, vegetables and much more.

Similarly, if you rather eat a gluten-free Pasta, you can decide to order the gluten-free version or the vegetable´s one, made out of “Zoodles“, which is basically noodles made out of Zucchini. Among the options, you will find the Pesto Basilico, Bolognese, Carbonara, Pomodoro and much more.

However, if you´re not interested in either gluten-free Pizza or Pasta — you might be interested in one Italian Risotto! You could get a Risotto ai funghi, Pomodoro e gamberetti or Filetto di manzo con vino rosso. Although, with our tips, you should be able to make an even better Risotto on your own:
